Vladimir Crnojević

BioSense Institute

Vladimir Crnojević is Director of BioSense Institute, a research and development facility focusing on biosystems information technologies, recently ranked as a European Centre of Excellence by the Widening Participation and Spreading Excellence programme. He also teaches computer science at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, and is an Associate Professor Extraordinary of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Science, Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

After graduating in Electrical Engineering, he obtained his PhD in image processing from the University of Novi Sad in 2004. Vladimir has since been involved in a number of industrial projects related to computer vision, machine learning, and data mining. Vladimir is the founder of the BioSense Institute, now a regional leader in a number of EU projects under the FP7 and H2020 programmes. BioSense also co-operates closely with industry and has a significant track record in innovation accelerator activities, having funded some 50 small and medium-sized firms.

Vladimir has published more than 50 papers in major scientific journals and conferences and has peer reviewed for some of the most reputable journals in his field. His current research interests include machine learning, image processing, remote sensing, and data mining applications in agriculture, biosystems, and IoT.
